Gainesville Empowerment Zone Family Learning Center Teacher
Position: Infant/Toddler Teacher
Location: Gainesville Empowerment Zone Family Learning Center (GEZFLC)
Schedule: 5 days per week, 9-hour shifts (includes a lunch break)
Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week), CDA to be obtained within 2 years of employment

Purpose: We are seeking a warm, nurturing Infant/Toddler Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education. In this role, you will create a safe, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive classroom environment that supports each child’s growth and development. You will work under the direction of the Site Manager and in collaboration with the Leadership Team to ensure a high-quality experience for children and families.
Qualifications- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; experience with children birth–five years old. - Accepted:
Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; experience with children birth–five years old. - Accepted credentials: 45‑hour DCF credential, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, State Equivalency.
- First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact positively with children, families, and team members.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and organizational abilities.
- Willingness to complete a minimum of 20 clock hours of professional development (age‑group specific) per year.
- Ability to meet all GEZFLC, state, and local child‑care regulations.
- Center environment with flexible work hours, occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime.
- Work outside a minimum of one (1) hour per day in varying weather conditions.
- Lunch will vary depending on the needs of the center.
- Ability to bend, lift, and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Comfortable working outdoors for at least one hour per day in varying weather conditions.
- Adhere to and practice GEZFLC standards outlined within code of conduct policy.
- Implement daily classroom operations including planning and implementing school readiness activities for children.
- Closely supervise and maintain awareness at all times of the children assigned as primary responsibility.
- Provide and maintain a safe environment to prevent injuries to staff and children; keep the classroom and outdoor learning environment clean and free of dangerous equipment and debris.
- Create a positive emotional environment in the classroom by establishing warm and supportive relationships with children, displaying positive affect and communication, and demonstrating respect for one another.
- During evacuations or drills, assume role as indicated by established procedures.
- Assist in the physical maintenance and care of center facility such as sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and garbage disposal.
- Plan and implement daily school‑readiness activities that are developmentally appropriate for infants/toddlers.
- Closely supervise children at all times, maintaining an awareness of safety, hygiene, and each child’s well‑being.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and hazard‑free classroom and outdoor learning environment.
- Create a positive emotional climate by building warm, supportive relationships with children.
- Encourage cooperation, sharing, and respectful communication among children and staff.
- Adhere to GEZFLC standards and code of conduct; maintain a safe environment to prevent injuries, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.

- Communicate respectfully and maintain confidentiality with children, families, staff, and community members.
