Sterile Equipment Technician

Job Description

The University of Florida, College of Dentistry is searching for a Sterile Equipment Technician. This position is responsible for cleaning dental instruments and the preparation of them for sterilization. The incumbent operates and maintains a variety of sterilization equipment.

• Dispensing clean instruments to dental students and departments, using computer program Axium and the INFO-DOT process. Collecting, tracking, and processing dirty instruments according to sterilization protocol.
• Disinfecting and sterilizing dental instruments for all UFCD dental students and the UFCD dental clinics:
  Replacing broken or missing instruments for UFCD Dental Students.
• Recording incoming and outgoing instruments from students and departments.
• Oiling and maintaining instruments and hand pieces.
• Maintaining machines and reporting needs for repairs (as needed). Maintaining office supplies inventory.
• Labeling and scanning with the Axium program.
• In-service training (updates, new sterilization techniques, and computer classes).
• Other related duties as assigned.

$16.00 - $17.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience

• Dental Assistant certification or equivalent training.
• Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
