Scherer Construction is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join our team. The successful candidate will lead the design team through planning, design, and construction of small to large commercial projects, coordinating with clients and consultants, managing all architectural aspects of a project, and overseeing drafting operations. Must be familiar with industry standards, construction techniques, practices, and procedures appropriate in carrying out architectural projects.
Responsibilities- Meet with prospective clients to determine project requirements, objectives, scope of work, and budget, and write a fee proposal agreement letter for the project.
- Manage the design process through the entire project life cycle, meeting with the client to review progress of the design as needed, deliver documents on schedule and in budget, and manage the in-house fiscal performance of the project.
- Select and specify the materials and finishes appropriate for the project.
- Produce the drawings and specifications for permitting and construction of the project, including coordination of consultant documents and supervising in-house drafting staff.
- Assist the client in procuring various predesign services which may include feasibility studies, environmental and geotechnical evaluations, site selection, boundary topographic surveys, and developing program requirements for the design.
- Ensure that the design complies with all building, life safety, and zoning codes, and other applicable requirements and ordinances.
- Review and approve product submittals, respond to Requests For Interpretations, and conduct site observations during construction of the project.
- Familiarity with computer aided design software, especially Revit and AutoCAD
- Ability to work independently, analyze complex problems, conceptualize solutions, and facilitate decision making
- Effective communication skills and ability to effectively direct the work of others and collaborate with professionals at varying levels of responsibility
- Five years of experience as an architect
- Licensed to practice architecture in the State of Florida
