Position Overview: The Department of Surgery and the Heart and Vascular Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville (UF COM-J) is seeking to hire a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. The successful candidate will receive an appointment at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor ranks. The candidate should be proficient in coronary artery bypass, valve surgery (open and minimally invasive), arrhythmia surgery, thoracic aortic surgery, thoracoscopic and robotic lung resection and mediastinal surgery.
The department supports a team of fellowship-trained, board-certified cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and vascular surgeons focused on cardiac, thoracic, and vascular care.
The position reports academically to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and operationally to the CT Surgery Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at UF COM-J. Major responsibilities include patient care, teaching, and research as outlined below.
The department and center are highly active clinically, academically and educationally, with growth in heart and vascular care as elective surgical practice expands in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. UF Cardiothoracic Surgery services are provided at UF Health Heart and Vascular Center - Jacksonville, with integrated heart programs and multiple locations. Cardiac procedures are performed at UF Health Jacksonville and UF Health St. Johns; thoracic procedures at those locations plus UF Health North. The candidate will receive a UF COM-J faculty appointment at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor, based on background and experience.
This is a full-time 1.0 FTE clinical faculty position with teaching duties and clinical research commensurate with an academic appointment. The program encompasses TAVR, robotic thoracic surgery, TEVAR, minimally invasive aortic and mitral valve surgery, with opportunities for collaboration across UF colleges.
The candidate will participate in an on-call schedule and must be eligible for unrestricted licensure in Florida.

Preferred: Demonstrated record of excellence in cardiothoracic surgical procedures. Experience in cardiothoracic procedures including CABG, TEVAR, complex valvular surgery (including minimally invasive techniques), Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation, TAVR, Robotic Surgery, Minimally Invasive approaches, ECMO/LVAD placement. Demonstrated record in academic settings including education, scholarly productivity and program development. A minimum of 5 years post-residency/fellowship experience.
