The Department of Surgery and the Heart and Vascular Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville (UF COM-J) is seeking to hire a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. The successful candidate will receive an appointment at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor ranks. The candidate should preferably have a minimum of 5 years of experience and be able to perform all aspects of advanced/complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgery.
The candidate should be proficient in coronary artery bypass, valve surgery (open and minimally invasive), arrhythmia surgery, thoracic aortic surgery, thoracoscopic and robotic lung resection and mediastinal surgery. The department emphasizes teamwork with fellowship-trained, board-certified cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and vascular surgeons to care for patients with cardiac, thoracic, and vascular conditions.
This position will academically report to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and operationally to the CT Surgery Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at the UF COM-J. Major responsibilities include patient care, teaching, and research as outlined below.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care within the full spectrum of adult cardiothoracic surgery, including TAVR, robotic thoracic surgery, TEVAR, minimally invasive valve surgery, and complex thoracic procedures.
- Engage in teaching and clinical research commensurate with an academic appointment.
- Collaborate with UF College of Medicine faculty across Jacksonville and Gainesville for interdisciplinary care and research.
- Participate in on-call schedule as required by the program.

Expectations:
This is a full-time 1.0 FTE clinical faculty position with duties in teaching and clinical research. The program encompasses the full spectrum of adult cardiothoracic surgery including TAVR, robotic thoracic surgery, TEVAR, and minimally invasive valve surgery. Collaboration with UF Health colleagues is encouraged.
- Required: MD/DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution;
Board Certified or Board Eligible in cardiothoracic surgery;
Eligible for or active Florida license. - Preferred: Demonstrated record of excellence in cardiothoracic surgical procedures; experience in CABG, TEVAR, complex valvular surgery (including minimally invasive techniques), Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation, TAVR, robotic surgery, minimally invasive approaches, ECMO/LVAD placement; academic experience including education, scholarly productivity and program development; minimum of 5 years post-residency/fellowship experience.
