Job Description:
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor to join our growing Consult‑Liaison Psychiatry (Hospitalist) service. This recruitment is part of a larger initiative to expand psychiatric and behavioral health services across UF Health and increase access to timely, specialized mental health care.
The successful candidate will provide consultation‑liaison psychiatric services to medically complex patients across UF Health, including free‑standing emergency departments and inpatient medical and surgical units. Responsibilities include performing psychiatric evaluations, delivering evidence‑based interventions, managing acute behavioral health crises in medical settings, and collaborating closely with medical and surgical teams to support integrated, multidisciplinary care.
This faculty role also plays a key part in the department's educational mission, providing clinical supervision, mentorship, and teaching to psychiatry residents, fellows, medical students, and other trainees. The position is critical in increasing workforce capacity and strengthening the training pipeline for future clinicians. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide psychiatric consultation services for patients across emergency departments, medical/surgical inpatient units, and specialty programs.
* Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and develop evidence‑based treatment plans for medically complex patients.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely, coordinated mental health interventions.
* Deliver clinical supervision, teaching, and mentorship to psychiatry residents, medical students, social workers, and addiction medicine fellows.
* Support departmental operations aligned with the SB330 expansion by addressing service gaps and enhancing access to care.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to academic and service‑based activities within the department.
* Participate in on‑call rotation as assigned.
Expected Salary:
$250-310k;
Commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications:
* M.D. or D.O. degree.
* Completion of an ACGME‑accredited psychiatry residency training program.
* Board eligibility or board certification in Psychiatry.
* Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Florida.
* Experience providing consultation‑liaison psychiatric services or acute care psychiatry in medical or surgical settings.
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching and clinical supervision.
Preferred:
* Fellowship training in Consultation‑Liaison Psychiatry or another psychiatry subspecialty.
* Experience working in an academic medical center or tertiary/qua ternary care system.
* Demonstrated excellence in interdisciplinary collaboration and complex case management.
* Strong communication, leadership, and team‑based care skills.
