Job Description:
The Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology (APK) at the University of Florida (UF) is searching for a full-time, non-tenure track instructional assistant professor (lecturer) to join our team. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2026, though an earlier start may be negotiable.
This is a 9-month, 1.0 FTE, non-tenure track faculty position with potential summer employment opportunities. Responsibilities related to this position may include, but are not limited to, designing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and labs in Applied Human Physiology and Exercise Physiology. Primary duties for this position are instructional, but involvement in service at the department, college, and university levels is also expected.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an academic doctorate degree (PhD, EdD, or DSc) in kinesiology, exercise physiology, or a closely related discipline. Applicants must possess good communication, collaboration, and time management skills. Applicants should be passionate about student learning and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and teamwork. Additionally, applicants should have experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing new courses, and integrating experiential learning into the curriculum.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching high-enrollment courses, leading laboratory instruction, mentoring teaching assistants (TAs), and delivering courses in various formats (online, face-to-face, hybrid).
The Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology
The department is one of the premier Applied Physiology & Kinesiology programs in the world. Currently, APK employs 35 full-time faculty and enrolls approximately 1,100 students (~900 undergraduate and ~230 graduate). APK Lecturers enjoy a 9-month, renewable contract with abundant support, including access to UF's Center for Teaching Excellence, in-house course design consultants, lecturer promotion and merit pay plans, conference travel funds, instructional grant opportunities, and team-oriented colleagues.
