Job DescriptionApplications are invited for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering (CISE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida (UF). This is an internal only search for current HWCOE Faculty at the rank of Professor or higher.

The CISE Department is large and growing, with nearly 2,600 undergraduates, 450 master’s students, and 165 Ph.D. students. Faculty includes 6 Assistant, 16 Associate, and 19 Full Professors and various distinguished fellows.
The department’s research strengths include AI, machine learning, natural language processing; computing foundations, algorithms, bioinformatics, visualization; human‑centered computing; information security; and teaching excellence. It benefits from new headquarters, state‑of‑the‑art labs, and high‑level industry partnerships.
The Chair will oversee operational management and strategic growth, including vision development, fostering collaboration, mentoring faculty, recruiting, governance, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement.
Expected SalarySalary is commensurate with education and experience.
Required QualificationsApplicants must hold a doctorate in CISE or a closely related discipline, with a distinguished record of scholarship and external research funding, and excellence in teaching, commensurate with appointment at the Full Professor level.
Other qualifications include strong commitment to academic standards, leadership, effective communication, mentorship, expanding sponsored research, advocacy for engineering education, shared governance, and professional development.
Experience with external engagement such as industry partnerships, alumni outreach, and fundraising is also expected.
