Position: Temporary Steps to College Teaching Assistant

Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Temporary Steps to College Teacher Assistant. The Steps to College Teacher Assistant will assist with the teaching economics, civics, financial literacy, current events, math, English, or ESOL for the Steps to College summer program.

Responsibilities

* Assist with day-to-day operations of the assigned classroom; help teacher and students with technical issues, supply delivery, and attendance as directed and assist with monitoring student behavior.

* Supervise students to and from buses to classes and lunch, during designated program breaks, restroom breaks, around campus, and during program field trips and proctored Friday make-up days.

* Attend program meetings, including orientations and training sessions, prior to the start and during S2C program.

* Assist program coordinators and teachers with family/guardian communication during program (i.e., calling guardians if students are absent).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

* Proficiency with word and excel processing.

Required Qualifications

* High school diploma required

Preferred Qualifications

* Some college preferred.

* Current UNG student preferred.

* Experience working with youth in out-of-school academic programs and/or facilitating out-of-school programming is preferred.

* Spanish fluency preferred
