Oak Hall School is seeking an educator for Global Affairs, one of the three pillars of study in the Distinguished Scholars Program. Global Affairs provides an interdisciplinary approach to history and social science education by building cross-cultural awareness of our global societies through intentional integration of concentrated coursework and extra-curricular opportunities. We are seeking an educator who will guide students in a personalized pathway through curricular opportunities and co-curricular experiences that extend the walls of the classroom, and who will foster a learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and an appreciation for all perspectives.

History and social science educators in all manners of discipline who value being part of a welcoming, diverse and supportive learning community are highly encouraged to apply. An educational background and meaningful teaching experience in history, economics, and global studies are valued pathways for this position, which is slated to begin in August 2026.

Position Purpose:
Plan, prepare, and deliver History and related curriculum to Upper School students, with a focus on fostering deep historical inquiry, high-level critical thinking, and analytical reasoning through academic discourse.

Job Description:

• Actively support and promote the mission of Oak Hall School in all aspects of student engagement

• Develop, plan, and teach developmentally appropriate classes in History. Specific sections may include College Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Placement level American Government, U.S. History, and/or World History courses as well as potential electives in History/Social Science.

• Deliver creatively engaging and effective lessons to a diverse group of students focused on developing confident, fluent writers and speakers, ethical and thorough researchers, and insightful readers

• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions to enhance students' understanding of the course materials, encouraging a nuanced understanding of history and historical events

• Plan, evaluate, and revise curriculum, course content, course materials and methods of instruction as needed, to ensure the highest level of student engagement

• Promote a positive classroom environment and demonstrate strong classroom management skills to create and maintain a learning environment that ensures high levels of learning for all students

• Assess and document each student's performance/progress both formally and informally to meet the School's standards, and provide regular feedback to students and their parents

• Keep current and accurate course assignments and grades posted

• Be an active and collaborative member of the History Department, the Upper School team, and the greater Oak Hall community

• Serve as Advisor to an assigned group of upper school students

• Serve as a mentor and advocate for your students, as a role model of integrity and professionalism

• Serve as a faculty sponsor for a student-led club

• Be willingly available throughout the workday to advise and assist students

• Maintain a high level of expertise in subject matter and pedagogical skills through ongoing professional development

• Meet regular and punctual attendance requirements, including attending division and other School meetings, professional days, graduation, and other required events

• Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or post graduate work in History or closely related discipline is required
