The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences is creating an environment that affirms community across all dimensions. The Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida is seeking applications for a full‑time (1.0 FTE) 12‑month, non‑tenure track Lecturer/Instructional Assistant Professor faculty position. This is a 100% teaching (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) appointment within the Department of Animal Sciences, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida.
A successful candidate with a Ph.D. degree would be eligible to use the ‘Instructional Assistant Professor' working title.
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
- Teach undergraduate courses and laboratories that make up the core of the equine science degree option and advise undergraduate students.
- Potential courses include, but are not limited to, Introduction to Equine Science, Equine Nutrition and Feeding Management, Relationship of Form to Function in Horses, Horse Enterprise Management, and Introduction to Animal Sciences.
- Support and participate in the CALS Honors Program, distance education, and international education.
- Engage in all three mission areas—Research, Teaching, and Extension—regardless of the appointment split specified in the position description.
A master’s degree (foreign equivalent acceptable) in animal science or a related discipline is required. Demonstrated experience in one or more areas of equine science is required. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal relationships, and they must support the tripartite mission of the Land‑Grant system and the UF core values.
Preferred QualificationsPh.D. degree is desirable (but not required). Teaching experience—both online and in person—evidence of professional development and scholarship of teaching and learning, and previous experience in academic advising and administration are preferred.
