Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the CALS FIRST Instructional Design Team: set strategic direction, establish workflows and best practices, and foster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment. • Partner with faculty and staff on course design and improvement: work individually and as part of project teams to develop, revise, and review student‑centered online and hybrid courses, with a focus on online course quality standards and authentic learning and assessment. Support instructors in learning objective development, course alignment, instructional materials and activity design, assessment strategies, use of instructional technologies, and accessible learning environments.
  • Collaborate across teams and units: work closely with other FIRST operational areas, including the Video Production Team, and coordinate with IFAS and UF partners to support online learning projects and continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and operational improvement for FIRST by providing recommendations on instructional technologies, supporting project management processes, and helping maintain documentation, workflows, and communication practices that support team effectiveness.
  • Stay current with best practices in online teaching and learning and share that expertise with colleagues and instructors to support consistent, high‑quality, student‑centered online instruction.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.

  • Teaching experience in higher education is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of and experience applying instructional design and learning theory principles; authentic learning and assessment; accessibility and quality standards for online courses; current and emerging instructional technologies; and effective higher education online learning environments.
  • Experience in online course development and in advising and training online instructors.
  • Project management experience with multiple or large projects.
  • Experience managing staff or teams.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate professionally in a collaborative, team‑based environment and apply innovative solutions to learning challenges.
