The University of Florida seeks a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics, College of Medicine. The candidate is expected to work closely with project investigators to advance ongoing research on early childhood development and child health outcomes. The role will collaborate with the Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies (AZC), play an integral role in extramural awards, and build a portfolio of independent and collaborative research incorporating AI, machine learning and other informatics methodologies.
The Research Associate Professor will play a critical leadership role in directing biomedical informatics and data science for the Sunshine State Early Childhood Information Portal, a comprehensive Early Childhood Integrated Data System that includes data from health, education, financial, and social support sectors.
The position will also lead work with electronic health record information from the One Florida+ Data Trust and linked mother‑baby data, aiming to understand child health outcomes and develop interventions to improve them.
The responsibilities include:
- Establishing and leading the candidate’s own portfolio of extramurally funded research in collaboration with ECPRG‑affiliated and HOBI‑affiliated faculty, staff, and students.
- Serving as co‑investigator on the Sunshine State Early Childhood Information Portal.
- Leveraging electronic health record and linked mother‑baby data in collaboration with child health researchers.
- Leading the development and implementation of AI/ML methodologies.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to project personnel to build capacity in advanced AI/ML methodologies.
- Assisting PIs and staff in the development of dissemination products.
- PhD in biomedical informatics, data science, or social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative science emphasis; recognized nationally or internationally and/or outstanding researcher; distinguished record of achievement.
