Job Description

12‑month Assistant/Associate Professor position, 60% teaching and 40% research, available in the West Florida Research and Education Center, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida. Tenure will accrue in the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver three to four courses annually (e.g., Wetland Wildlife Ecology, Wildlife of Florida, and Wildlife of Florida Lab); alternate courses such as Wildlife Habitat Management or Wildlife Techniques may be taught depending on experience and interests.
  • Support undergraduate and graduate education, chair or serve on graduate student committees, supervise thesis and dissertation research, supervise undergraduate research, and co‑publish with graduate students.
  • Conduct applied research on conservation and management of coastal systems and wetlands, focusing on the Florida panhandle; develop a recognized, externally funded research program that serves state stakeholders.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and participate in research, teaching, and extension activities as part of the land‑grant mission.
  • Participate in honors, distance, and international education programs as needed.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Wildlife Ecology or a closely related discipline.
  • Research interests in applied coastal ecology and wetland wildlife questions.
  • Strong teaching and research background with constructive professional relationships.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with scientific, stakeholder, and student audiences.
  • Ability to procure extramural funding and commitment to the mission of the land‑grant system.
  • Commitment to the University of Florida core values.
Preferred
  • Postdoctoral experience.
Salary

Commensurate with experience and education.
