REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with major course work in sports management, recreation, administration, or related field from an accredited educational institution.
- A minimum of one (1) year athletic supervisory or state athletic association work experience.
- Master’s degree in sports management or education leadership.
- Three (3) or more years of experience as a high school AD, a college Asst AD or above, a high school Principal, Asst Principal, Dean, or state association experience.
- Familiarity with interscholastic or high school athletics operations in the State of Florida.
- Coordinate athletic operations for assigned sports.
- Oversee non-sport-specific functions (sanctioning, sport additions/removals, officials training, committee leadership).
- Coordinate classifications and district/section assignments.
- Maintain and publish District/Section Planning Meeting information.
- Coordinate and attend state series contests.
- Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for state series venues.
- Assist in negotiating and contracting venues for championship events.
- Serve as the state rules interpreter for assigned sports.
- Plan and deliver FHSAA and NFHS rules presentations.
- Ensure compliance with contest conditions for member schools.
- Assist in the development, adoption, and implementation of sports policies.
- Assist in updating Officials Guidebooks.
- Support annual officials’ leadership meetings.
- Assist with coordination of officials’ assignments and recommendations for state series.
- Conduct pre-game conferences for officials.
- Coordinate FHSAA/NFHS Coaches Awards Programs.
- Notify host schools of assigned officials and compensation requirements.
- Secure awards, equipment, and tournament personnel for events.
- Arrange hotel accommodation for event personnel.
- Manage on-site event logistics for assigned sports.
- Communicate effectively with member schools regarding contest conditions and expectations.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Associate Executive Director for Athletic Services.
- Provide timely updates on school sports and officials-related matters.
- Chair and participate in committees as assigned.
- Prepare agenda materials and attend Board of Directors meetings.
- Perform additional duties aligned with the goals and objectives of the position.
Position requires in-state travel for meetings and job-related responsibilities, estimated at approximately 25% of workdays, with occasional out-of-state travel for professional development opportunities.
Ability to perform light physical work, including occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 30 pounds and frequently handling items up to 10 pounds.
Regular on-site attendance at the Gainesville office is required; this position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTPay Grade & WagesThis position is classified as exempt, administrative staff with an annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $75,000 depending on education degree and level of qualifications. The Administrator of Athletics position also receives an annual auto stipend.
