Position: Open Rank Professor of Special Education (Tenure Track)

Position Overview

Tenure‑line Open Rank (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor of Special Education in the School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies at the University of Florida. The appointment is a 9‑month tenure‑accruing position beginning August 2026, with the possibility of summer work. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and a start‑up package is available.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct scholarly activities aligned with expectations for a faculty member at the incoming rank at a top‑10 public research institution.
  • Publish in high‑impact refereed scholarly journals.
  • Pursue and secure external funding.
  • Teach courses in a face‑to‑face, blended, or online format.
  • Advise, engage, and mentor graduate students in teaching, research, and outreach.
  • Participate in program development.
  • Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and the profession.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in special education or a closely related field.
  • Strong and established record of research and scholarly writing commensurate with the incoming rank.
  • Success in seeking, securing, and administering external grants or contracts commensurate with the rank.
  • Evidence of successful teaching at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience mentoring graduate students.
  • Evidence of successful collaboration with faculty, students, and K‑12 school‑based personnel.
  • Active engagement with or leadership in relevant professional organizations.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities in an educational setting.
