Mission
The mission of Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT) is to protect the natural, historic, scenic and recreational resources in and around North Central Florida. ACT protects land through purchase, donation, and conservation easements in 22 counties.
Internship OverviewACT hosts a semester-based Environmental Education Internship program through the Creekside Environmental Ed for Kids Program. The internship is 120 hours per semester, offering a $500 stipend upon completion. Students may pursue course credit with permission from their academic advisor and ACT.
ResponsibilitiesInterns will drive to program sites, set up and tear down activities, assist in environmental education at stations (including invertebrate sampling and guided nature walks), and support classroom visits at local schools. Additional collaboration, grant writing, program design, and professional development with the CrEEK Program Coordinator may be available based on interest and availability.
Requirements and AvailabilityApplicants must be able to drive to Little Orange Creek Nature Park, schools in Alachua and Putnam counties, and occasionally other ACT properties. Interns must be available on Fridays and attend weekly science programs every Wednesday from 8 AM to 1 PM. Flexibility for alternate dates from 8 AM to 11 AM is preferred.
