Position Summary
Visiting Lecturer in Dance — 9‑month, non‑tenure accruing faculty position, two‑year term at the University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance.
Location
Main Campus, Gainesville, FL.
Salary and Benefits
$60,000 with a comprehensive and highly competitive leave and benefits package.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate curriculum in Contemporary Ballet Practices, Somatics, Contemporary Dance Practices, Dance Composition, Ensemble courses and other dance‑related areas (e.g., improvisation, dance studies, cultural studies, dance pedagogy, dance and technology, experiential anatomy/dance kinesiology).
- Contribute to curricular development in additional dance‑related subjects and General Education courses.
- Participate in the dance season, choreographing or providing artistic leadership for performances.
- Mentor BA and BFA senior projects.
- Serve on School, College and University committees; engage in shared governance.
- Engage students in innovative learning that connects arts to critical discourses in other disciplines.
- Assist in student recruitment, guidance and retention.
- Terminal degree (MFA, Ph.D., or Ph.D. ABD) in Dance or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
- Record of national or international achievement in the field of dance.
- Evidence of successful collaboration and collegiality with faculty, students, and staff.
- Evidence of skill in designing and facilitating academic work that promotes respectful and inclusive intellectual discourse.
- Teaching experience of at least 3 years beyond graduate assistantship at the university level.
- Commitment to innovative, cross‑disciplinary curricula.
- Aptitude for working toward structural and strategic change.
- Capacity for effective engagement in recruitment activities.
