Position: English Language Arts Teacher ELA (Collaborative Teaching) Middle School

Are you a passionate educator dedicated to the intellectual and emotional success of young adolescents? Millhopper Montessori School is seeking an exceptional Middle School English Teacher to join our teaching team for the  school year.

About the Role

In this position, you will collaborate closely with other staff to plan and co‑develop lessons, including production‑based learning experiences centered on Shakespeare and mythology. Students will be guided to synthesize texts and create a culminating festival aligned with the year's theme, transforming learning into meaningful performance, writing, and creative expression.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a collaboration‑ready, student‑centered ELA educator who is excited and motivated to build projects with colleagues and support students in applying literacy content into confident communication and everyday life principles.

The Facilitator Mindset

We seek a teacher who acts as a facilitator and guide, rather than a dispenser of facts, awakening the students' spirit and imagination. Lead students to interact with a range of texts, including novel studies, to strengthen skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and presenting. Preparing students for the rigors of their chosen high‑school pathways, including IB and Cambridge programs.

Commitment

to the Whole Child

Candidates must demonstrate a deep respect for the adolescent's need for independence, balanced with a supportive external structure. Create lessons that help students critically think and generate insight across various domains. Maintain a classroom culture that supports adolescent growth intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Professionalism

Excellence in modeled English, both verbal and written, is required.

Collaborative Spirit

A willingness to engage in the teacher‑student‑parent partnership that defines our community, participate fully in the "big work" of adolescent retreats and evening events, and actively participate in collaborating with staff to develop lessons.
