Are you a passionate educator dedicated to the intellectual and emotional success of young adolescents? Millhopper Montessori School is seeking an exceptional Middle School English Teacher to join our teaching team for the school year.
About the RoleIn this position, you will collaborate closely with other staff to plan and co‑develop lessons, including production‑based learning experiences centered on Shakespeare and mythology. Students will be guided to synthesize texts and create a culminating festival aligned with the year's theme, transforming learning into meaningful performance, writing, and creative expression.
The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be a collaboration‑ready, student‑centered ELA educator who is excited and motivated to build projects with colleagues and support students in applying literacy content into confident communication and everyday life principles.
The Facilitator MindsetWe seek a teacher who acts as a facilitator and guide, rather than a dispenser of facts, awakening the students' spirit and imagination. Lead students to interact with a range of texts, including novel studies, to strengthen skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and presenting. Preparing students for the rigors of their chosen high‑school pathways, including IB and Cambridge programs.

Candidates must demonstrate a deep respect for the adolescent's need for independence, balanced with a supportive external structure. Create lessons that help students critically think and generate insight across various domains. Maintain a classroom culture that supports adolescent growth intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
ProfessionalismExcellence in modeled English, both verbal and written, is required.
Collaborative SpiritA willingness to engage in the teacher‑student‑parent partnership that defines our community, participate fully in the "big work" of adolescent retreats and evening events, and actively participate in collaborating with staff to develop lessons.
Qualifications- An avid love for reading and sharing literature
- Teaching certification/licensure in the appropriate subject area
- Reading Endorsement (preferred)
- Experience teaching middle school ELA (preferred) or a strong foundation in teaching Reading/English Language Arts
- Demonstrated ability to teach rigorous, standards‑aligned literature and writing
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to planning and feedback
