The part‑time Success Coach for the Red River Promise plays a pivotal role in supporting and guiding current Promise Scholars enrolled at NCTC to achieve academic success, persist in their studies, and successfully transition to four‑year institutions or their chosen career paths. This position focuses on fostering student retention, academic engagement, and seamless transfer through individualized coaching, group sessions, and resource facilitation.

The Promise Success Coach will work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders to monitor student progress, identify barriers to success, and implement proactive intervention strategies. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating strong relationships with students, empowering them to set and achieve educational goals, and promoting awareness of transfer and employment opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a student‑centered approach and a passion for guiding students toward long‑term academic and professional success.

This is a part‑time position with no more than 19 hours a week.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Advise students with active listening and assessment strategies. Create student success plans tailored to Promise Scholars’ needs, goals, and interests. Discuss course selections, major selection, and scholarship opportunities. Work with Scholars and partner universities in transfer protocols to assist in seamless transition under program guidelines.
  • Complete weekly and monthly data reports demonstrating progress toward department and institutional goals, including retention, student registration, and student successes.
  • Coach students by providing resources to address academic concerns, course difficulties, academic self‑efficacy, motivation, financial and time management, and program progression. Build relationships that foster opportunities to share growth and concerns while supporting students’ academic goals.
  • Follow up on early academic alerts submitted by professors and document interactions with students.
  • Assist the team with large outreach visits, workshops, and presentations at high school and community events. Maintain and build relationships with high school administrators and community partners. Actively recruit prospective students to the NCTC Promise Program.
  • Compile and maintain updated lists of resources at the college and in the community that will assist with factors that may impact a student’s education. Guide students to applicable resources and community service opportunities for Promise juniors.
  • Create and lead success seminars and class presentations on important strategies for students.
  • Develop and deliver a first‑year experience course for new Promise students, including lessons on policies and procedures, NCTC virtual platforms, campus resources, and success strategies. Create engaging assignments to orient new students to NCTC.
  • Complete professional development, certifications, and trainings in student success coaching, career development, and mental health. Attend student success and student affairs meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities may change based on departmental and institutional needs.
Required Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of previous work experience in a higher education environment.
