This is a 12-month, non-tenure-accruing, faculty position that will be 100% teaching available in the Entomology and Nematology Department within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida. The salary is competitive and comes with a full benefits package, with initial funding for two years and a possible extension pending funding availability.
Expected duties include teaching two courses per semester (including summers) and may assist with development of new courses. The courses taught will be a mix of in-person and online courses including courses related to the biology and management of insect pests, general entomology courses for non-majors, and a course related to insects as vectors of disease.
The successful candidate is encouraged to participate in scholarly activities related to instruction, which may include participating in curriculum revision and enhancement, supervising undergraduate students, conducting and publishing teaching-related scholarship, producing learning tools, or engaging in professional development activities related to teaching and advising.
Required qualifications include a M.S. degree (foreign equivalent acceptable) in entomology, nematology, biology, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, and interpersonal relationships. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to UF core values.
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. degree (foreign equivalent acceptable) in entomology, nematology, biology, or a closely related discipline, experience with in-person teaching, online teaching and course development.
