The Learning Specialist MS/HS is a full-time, on-site role based in Gainesville, FL, serving middle and high school students. This role focuses on supporting diverse learners by designing and implementing individualized learning plans, academic interventions, and accommodations in collaboration with classroom teachers and school counselors. Daily responsibilities include assessing student needs, monitoring progress, and providing targeted small‑group and one‑on‑one support in core subject areas.
The Learning Specialist also helps develop and refine instructional strategies aligned with IB frameworks, assists with training teachers in best practices for differentiated instruction, and maintains clear communication with families regarding student growth. Participation in faculty meetings, professional development, and school‑wide initiatives to strengthen inclusive teaching and learning is expected.
- Ability to apply experience and skills to support student growth and teacher effectiveness.
- Proficiency in creating differentiated, evidence‑based learning supports and interventions.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and colleagues in a clear and empathetic manner.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems to track student progress, document plans, and share resources.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with middle and high school learners, including those with learning differences or exceptional needs.
- Knowledge of MTSS/RTI frameworks, accommodations, and modifications within a college‑preparatory or IB context.
- Commitment to the Christian mission of the school and willingness to integrate a faith‑informed perspective into educational practice.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple student cases and priorities.
- Openness to ongoing professional learning and collaboration in a team‑oriented school environment.
