This 9‑month tenure‑accruing position requires 30% teaching and 70% research in forest hydrology. The role will be housed in the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatic Sciences, with teaching conducted at the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and research under the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station.
Responsibilities- Develop and lead an internationally recognized, externally funded research program focused on forest management impacts on water quality and quantity across private and public forest lands.
- Integrate field observations with hydrologic or ecosystem modeling of forest water resources.
- Engage in Extension activities within the program area.
- Teach up to two courses per year: a required undergraduate course in forest hydrology/water resources (FNR
4343) and one graduate‑level course in forest hydrology, hydric soils, wetland ecology, or related subject. - Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; supervise undergraduate and graduate research and creative work.
- Participate in curriculum revision, enhancement, and professional development related to teaching and advising.
- Seek and manage contract and grant funding to support the research program.
- Support the IFAS land‑grant mission in research, teaching, and Extension.
- A doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in forest hydrology or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated success in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and procurement of extramural funding.
- Commitment to UF core values and the Land‑Grant mission.
- Postdoctoral experience is desirable.
The position becomes available August 2026 and will be filled as soon as an acceptable applicant is found. Compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
