Overview

Teens Work Alachua Summer Youth Employment (TWA) provides high school students with work-related experiences to prepare them for employment. TWA aims to strengthen Alachua County’s workforce and help young people gain the support, educational credentials, and skills needed in today’s and in the future economy. Work sessions are held for 6 weeks in the summer. Objectives of the program include helping students gain employment, develop social skills, learn work norms and culture, understand career pathways, build professional networks, and learn to manage money.

The TWA Job Coach supervises approximately 25–30 students and supports recruiting students and employers, coordinating with the Program Manager, and ensuring student success and employer satisfaction.

• Recruit and enroll students into the TWA program in collaboration with the Program Manager.
• Identify and establish relationships with potential employers to employ students.
• Develop, implement, and attend workshops for students focused on work-readiness training.
• Administer and assess students prior to employment.
• Prepare and submit required reports.

• Assist with TWA student enrollment process.
• Schedule and attend employer orientation, conduct on-site visits, and walkthroughs of worksites.
• Establish and maintain communication between employer and student; ensure contact information is up to date.
• Coordinate external resources to support students (transportation, uniforms, work attire).
• Oversee student attendance and performance.
• Identify potential problems and intervene to ensure student success, including leveraging services of affiliated organizations.
• Complete required training related to TWA processes, reporting, and emergency management.
• Attend weekly meetings.

• Education
  :
  Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Experience
  :
  Two years working with teens in an educational setting.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration

  Proficiency with Word and Excel.

• Work with the TWA Program Manager to recruit and enroll students.

• Experience or educational background in social work, education, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience working with youth.
• Strong understanding and sensitivity to the perspectives of low-income populations.
• Understanding of affiliate program offerings, participation requirements, and benefits.
• Leadership: ability to inspire student success and develop teamwork among supporters.
• Continuous improvement mindset for all students.
• Communication: ability to listen, observe, and effectively convey information to students and employers.
