Overview

The Department of Environmental and Global Health in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for up to four full‑time, 12‑month faculty positions at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. Positions may be on a tenure‑track or a non‑tenure research or teaching track and should focus on environmental, occupational, infectious disease, global health, One Health, or population health challenges that advance public health locally, nationally, and globally.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program.
  • Conduct original research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to teaching at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, including mentoring students and early‑career scholars.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
  • Collaborate across UF, including with the Emerging Pathogens Institute, College of Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine, Institute on the Environment, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, UF Health, Cancer Center, and other interdisciplinary centers.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (PhD, DrPH, DVM, MD, or equivalent) in public health or a related field by the hire date.
  • Eligibility to be appointed at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank under UF criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship relevant to environmental health, global health, infectious disease, One Health, or population health.
  • Evidence of potential to contribute to the department’s research, teaching, and service missions.
  • Record of peer‑reviewed publications and a research agenda with potential for sustained impact.
  • Experience and potential in obtaining extramural funding.
  • Experience in public health research, practice, teaching, or community engagement.
  • Expertise in one or more departmental priority areas such as environmental health, toxicology, climate and health, implementation science, health equity, or related fields.
  • Experience mentoring students, trainees, or early‑career professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative, interdisciplinary research and educational environments.
  • Collegial and engaging approach to mentoring, teaching, service, and professional engagement.
  • Ability to develop productive partnerships across academic, governmental, healthcare, industry, or community settings.
