Job Description

Oversee the FPD Fundamentals Program and related professional development activities to support student career readiness in finance.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the FPD Fundamentals Program to:
    • Lead the ongoing enhancement and facilitation of comprehensive professional development workshops for all participating students. Topics include key finance industry sectors, career self‑assessment, networking strategies with companies, crafting industry‑appropriate resumes, industry appropriate interview preparation techniques, and other targeted skills essential for successful careers in finance.
    • Enhance lesson plans, schedule, execute, and continuously revise the workshops as necessary to align with student needs.
    • Continue to create and implement strategies for incorporating older students, analyst‑level alumni, faculty, alumni, industry professionals, and the Warrington Business Services Office in helping students identify appropriate career fits.
    • Coach students on properly conducting themselves at various stages of relationships with hiring firms.
    • Conduct high‑level interview preparation for industry‑specific internship recruiting.
  • Assist FIRE Department with Professional Development Strategy and Hiring Firm Relationship Management. Work in conjunction with the Finance Professional Development Director and staff, student track leaders, hiring firms, and stakeholders across the Heavener School of Business to:
    • In collaboration with Warrington Business Career Services, become knowledgeable about the scope of finance jobs, learn career paths, and identify firms offering summer and starting analyst roles, while maintaining a database of current junior summer finance internship job opportunities intended to result in full‑time placement offers.
    • Know the industry‑appropriate skill sets, education, personal characteristics, and traits necessary for a student to get hired and be successful in the available opportunities.
    • Partner with Warrington Business Career Services to maintain personal relationships with the hiring firms, stay in tune with their hiring needs and calendars, and help identify ideal students.
    • Co‑advise the FPD Board to execute annual goals and coordinate industry engagements.
    • Attend FPD meetings, events, industry engagements, and trips that are significant to building and maintaining hiring relationships.
    • Promote participation in the FPD program and collaborate with college stakeholders as needed.
  • Individualized Educational Planning and Career Placement Guidance:
    • Continuously assess FPD Fundamentals students’ individual progress through attendance, completion of structured assignments, self‑education, professional growth in student organizations and jobs.
    • Promote Hough Graduate School Combined Degree Programs by directing freshmen and early sophomore students to suitable programs based on standardized test scores and UF academic performance.
    • Guide students on career placement decisions and initiate mentor relationships with older students and alumni.
    • Coordinate with FPD track leaders to determine an effective internship placement strategy, including certifications, student involvement, and technical training.
  • Supervision & Leadership of Operations:
    • Supervise and mentor a dedicated team member responsible for day‑to‑day operations of the FPD Program, including student services, event coordination, and administrative processes.
    • Oversee a program operations specialist, ensuring seamless execution of logistics, registration, database management, budget tracking, and vendor coordination.
    • Foster a collaborative environment through regular meetings, clear expectations, and empowerment of team members.
    • Provide hands‑on leadership and strategic direction to the team member managing core FPD operations.
