UF America Reads tutors work with students who need additional help with reading in elementary schools and community centers throughout Gainesville. All financial aid recipients with Federal Work Study in their award are welcome to apply,
regardless of major
. All that is required is a desire to help children become competent, confident readers and….
- Availability to work a minimum of two days per week
, Monday through Friday, for 2.5-3 hours each day between the hours of 2:30-6:00pm during the Fall 2026 semester. - Ability to travel to the assigned, off campus site.
- Ability to attend mandatory, paid training sessions.
- Commitment to work at least one full semester.
- Maintenance of at least a 2.0 GPA.
- Maintenance of course credits required to continue to receive work study.

A clear Background Check prior to placement in off-campus community centers.
$16 hourly
Required Qualifications:- Awarded Federal Work Study as part of a student financial aid package.
- Must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
- Maintain course credits required to continue to receive work study.
- Pass a Background Check prior to placement in off-campus schools and/or community centers.
- Attend mandatory paid training prior to placement in off-campus community centers.
- Have reliable transportation and be able to travel to the assigned, off campus site.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions
