Job Description Program Delivery
  • Promotes EFNEP and recruits eligible youth and adult participants through community outreach and partnerships.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with community organizations to coordinate nutrition education programs, communicate program expectations, and support participant success.
  • Deliver engaging, learner-centered, nutrition education using approved, evidence-based curricula that are responsive to participants' age, culture, language, literacy level, and learning needs.
  • Delivers instruction through a structured curriculum consisting of a minimum of six lessons for each participant group to promote lasting behavior change.
  • Collects required participant information and administers approved evaluation tools to measure program participation, knowledge gain, and behavior change while maintaining participant confidentiality.
  • Connects participants with Extension programs, community resources, and public assistance programs, including SNAP, when appropriate.
  • Represents EFNEP at health fairs, community events, and outreach activities to increase program awareness, strengthen partnerships, and recruit participants.
Planning
  • Plans and coordinates nutrition education programs by scheduling classes with community partners, organizing instructional materials, supplies and equipment, and ensuring classroom logistics support successful program delivery.
  • Adapts activities to meet participant needs while maintaining fidelity to approved curricula and compliance with program requirements.
Training
  • Participates in orientation, required trainings, and ongoing professional development to strengthen nutrition knowledge, teaching practices, cultural responsiveness, technology skills, and program implementation.
  • Applies supervisor feedback and new learning to improve program quality and participant outcomes.
Travel
  • Travels throughout the assigned county to conduct nutrition education programs, recruit participants, and participate in required meetings and trainings.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required for annual statewide training.
Reporting
  • Maintains accurate and timely participant, program, travel, and administrative records in accordance with University, EFNEP, and USDA NIFA requirements.
  • Submits required reports and documentation by established deadlines and protects participant confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Nutrition Educator will achieve and maintain food safety certification (Safe Staff).

Normal

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm. Required nights and weekends when assigned due to the nature of the program.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Bilingual (English, Spanish)
  • Criminal background check required
Preferred
  • Experience delivering nutrition education, health education, or other educational programming.
  • Experience working with individuals, families, or youth from different backgrounds, particularly with limited resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with different audiences.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other educational technologies.
