Student Support Services (SSS) at Santa Fe College (SF) is aprogram designed to help students succeed by assisting them in navigating the different aspects of college life. SERVE for Veteran Students is one of the Federal TRIO programs funded by the U.S.Department of Education to identify and provide services to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. SF’s SERVE program is designed to identify, select, enroll, retain, serve, and assist veterans who are low-income, first-generation college students,and/or individuals with disabilities to increase retention,graduation, and transfer rates of SF students who meet the program eligibility requirements.

Job Description Responsibilities andDuties Include:
- Collaborates with the Coordinator to identify, recruit, andselect eligible participants, adhering to student eligibility asper the program.
- Provides ongoing academic and career advisement, coaching, and mentoring, which includes assisting students in choosing career paths, programs of study, classes, and colleges to support persistence, retention, and completion.
- Facilitates academic guidance, tutoring, study skills development, financial assistance and literacy, and transferpathways, which includes assisting students with completing transfer applications and financial aid forms.
- Tracks, monitors, and maintains accurate records of student academic progress with periodic checks of transcripts and other materials.
- Responds to at-risk reporting with appropriate student outreach, referral, and follow-up.
- Facilitates supplemental instruction, including programming inCANVAS, arranges transfer and cultural visits, and develops resources for program students.
- Assists the Coordinator with budget and program support responsibilities as needed.
- Partners with the Coordinator and applicable staff in conducting research related to project evaluation and assists with providing assessment data for annual reports, consultant visits,and grant submissions.
- Provides outreach to students through class presentations,college events, and other initiatives, some of which may include night and/or weekend commitments.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships professional relationships with SF departments, University of Florida, and community constituents.
- Works closely with peers and internal departments to effectively and holistically serve program students.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the field.
- Keeps a record of operating procedures and may share position specific knowledge, including use of college wide ERP and related system processes, by providing guidance on standard operations and established departmental procedures as needed.
- Provides service to the college through participation inevents, committees, and other college activities.
- Complies with all published College Rules, procedures,guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees,including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
- Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality ofrecords and other sensitive information according to appropriatestate, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provides service excellence through courteous, informed,accessible, and professional engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required: A bachelor's degree in education, psychology,social work, or a related field OR an associate's degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field and two (2) years of experience as a TRIO Academic Coach; one (1) to two (2) years of experience in TRIO, SSS, Student Affairs, or similar programs targeting Veteran students; demonstrable familiarity withmilitary experiences.
