Overview
This is an intermediate-level position involving technical work in a highway materials testing facility. General activities include some or all of the following: logging and preparing samples for testing; routinely performing advanced test procedures under minimal supervision; developing Standard Operating Procedures for various test methods; entering test data into the appropriate reporting software program or database; analyzing test data; extracting test data and preparing detailed reports and correspondence;
and communicating with District and Contractor personnel. This position will be working in the Aggregate Unit.
Specific duties include:
- Perform aggregate sampling and laboratory testing
- Ensure that test equipment is calibrated, verified, maintained, and functional at all times
- Skilled in using engineering tools, instruments, and equipment including computers
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software
- Overnight travel operating a vehicle to sample aggregates and assist with mine and lab inspection
High school diploma, or equivalent.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in inclement weather
Preferred SkillsBasic computer code, database management, and programming skills preferred
