Responsibilities and Key Roles- Develop creative approaches to minimize operational costs, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies.
- Mechanical responsibilities: chilled water systems, HVAC systems (roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems).
- Electrical responsibilities: electrical/critical power distribution from Utility/Generator main switch gear to UPS systems and customer loads.
- Fire life safety responsibilities: wet and pre‑action sprinkler systems and associated detection devices.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facility systems.
- Analyze systems to ensure best practices, provide feedback to teams, and collaborate with contractors for quality assurance and preventive maintenance.
- Manage systems to avoid unplanned customer‑impacting events and determine maintenance requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring regular, predictable attendance.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in data centers.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and related building codes.
- Current knowledge of industrial safety best practices.
- Experience with data trending/tracking systems and PC‑based critical monitoring systems.
- Hands‑and‑eye hardware support: tape rotation, rack and stack, inventory, power cycling, patch cable installation.
- Hands‑on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems (chilled water, large centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, water treatment, VFDs, pumps, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification, water heaters, filters, BMS, PLC controls, standby diesel generators, fuel/oil systems, UPS, Interlock systems).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Strong coordination and supervision of contractors.
- Quick learner, problem‑solver, able to work in high‑stress, fast‑paced environments, including nights, holidays, and some weekends.
- Proficient with hand and machine tools; electrical tools such as multimeter, infrared camera; forklift operation.
- Relevant high school diploma or equivalent. Advanced qualification or equivalent work experience preferred.
- CPR/First Aid and NFPA
70E certification (or ability to obtain). - OSHA‑approved forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience in a similar role within a data‑center facilities environment.
- Experience in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (data center, hospital, semiconductor, power plant).
- Hands‑on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems (chilled water, large centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, water treatment, VFDs, pumps, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification, water heaters, filters, BMS, PLC controls, standby diesel generators, fuel/oil systems, UPS, Interlock systems).
Hourly base salary $33.00 – $61.25. Eligible for overtime pay pursuant to local state and federal ‘Wage and Hour’ requirements.
