Posting SummaryGainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer, Senior to support its Energy Supply operations. This position performs advanced, independent professional engineering work requiring the application of complex electrical engineering principles, sound technical judgment, and knowledge of current industry practices and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will provide engineering expertise in support of Energy Supply facilities, projects, operations, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities may include evaluating complex technical issues, developing engineering recommendations and solutions, supporting capital and maintenance projects, interpreting technical standards and regulatory requirements, preparing and reviewing engineering plans and specifications, and coordinating engineering activities across multidisciplinary teams.
This role is well suited for an experienced engineer who can independently manage complex assignments, communicate effectively with technical and operational stakeholders, and take accountability for the quality and accuracy of engineering work products. The position may also provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and coordinate portions of major projects or complete projects of moderate scope.
The Electrical Engineer, Senior classification is the third in GRU’s four-level engineering career series and incorporates the competencies and responsibilities associated with the Engineer, Associate and Engineer classifications.
GRU may fill multiple positions from this posting. This position may also be underfilled at a lower engineering classification based on the selected candidate’s education, experience, and qualifications.

SummaryAdvanced, independent professional and technical engineering work requiring knowledge and application of the latest advancements in the field and knowledge of regulatory environment, and is fully accountable for work product.
Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision receiving technical guidance on unusual and non-typical complex problems and supervisor approval on plan proposals. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its lack of managerial responsibility and by its emphasis on the application of advanced engineering skills, development, implementation, and interpretation of policies, and coordination of small engineering staff to a part of a major project, a total project of moderate scope, or controversial project affecting the effectiveness of the organization.

Engineer, Senior classification is the third in a series of four Engineer Classifications of progressively more demanding job competencies and engineering duties. It should be understood that the job competencies, duties and requirements of the Engineer, Associate and Engineer are inherently included in this position.
This position is being recruited at the Electrical Engineer, Senior level, which requires a minimum of six (6) years of qualifying experience
. However, based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate, the position may be underfilled at a lower classification
.
Candidates who do not meet the minimum experience requirements for the Senior level are encouraged to apply and may be considered for:
- Electrical Engineer, Associate – Generally 0–2 years of qualifying experience
Salary Range: $61,812 – $92,719 - Electrical Engineer – Minimum of four (4) years of qualifying experience
Salary Range: $80,402 – $120,604
The classification and starting salary of the selected candidate will be determined based on education, relevant experience, qualifications, and applicable compensation guidelines.
