Position: Events Associate | Eldercare | PRN | Variable

Overview

Supports the Senior Center Manager with logistics, execution, and oversight of special events and functions hosted at the 5701 Venue/Senior Recreation Center. Serve as the on-site Venue Coordinator facilitating communication between the renter(s), event planner, DJ, and/or any ancillary service coordinating with the special events rental. Handle event set‑up, address any customer service or logistical need throughout the event, and complete post‑event walk‑through and check‑off with renter.

Provide excellent customer service and representation of UF Health, Elder Care of Alachua County, the Senior Recreation Center, and 5701 Venue. Performs other duties as assigned. Workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for special event coverage. Most events are held during nights and/or weekends. Events typically range from 4‑6 hours and usually require pre‑event set‑up by staff.

The event schedule can range from 1‑4 events per weekend depending on room availability, customer needs and contracts. Appropriate dress required for professional representation of the organization. Business Casual including khaki pants and polo shirts are appropriate.

Must successfully pass an AHCA Level 2 screening for this position

Qualifications

Minimum

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred or commensurate with relevant experience. Must possess the ability to manage time, prioritize work, manage customer expectations effectively, and deliver high‑quality logistical and event support to customers/renters, be detail‑oriented, organized, with excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels, internally and externally. Familiarity with AV equipment set‑up and ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to IT event needs.

Prior experience working with events, external vendors, and customers preferred. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job: standing, sitting, lifting, and setting up tables and chairs. Motor Vehicle Operator designation: may operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a frequent driver while other employees in this position may operate vehicles as a non‑frequent driver. Licensure/Certification/Registration: none.
