Financial Analyst, Financial Consultant
The University of Florida Investment Corporation ("UFICO") is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as a member of the investment team supporting the Analytics Team. The Analyst will work across asset classes and strategies to assist with analysis, modeling, and research. S/he will collaborate with the senior team to provide quantitative analytical support and capital markets research to inform capital allocation, portfolio construction, and rebalancing decisions.
The Analyst will also be charged with identifying and sourcing investment opportunities, researching prospective investment managers, and evaluating current managers.
- Expand and maintain data and quantitative analytics infrastructure, including third-party AI-enabled tools, to deliver insights on asset allocation, portfolio risk, and performance, helping inform portfolio construction and management decisions.
- Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of systems to capture/analyze financial data.
- Coordinate with the Investment and Operations teams to ensure that accurate accounting and performance data are maintained in the portfolio management system, including documentation of underlying positions and investment exposures.
- Partner within the Analytics team and with other colleagues in evolving the asset and risk allocation process via rigorous analysis of the portfolio, its exposures, return drivers, and forward-looking risks.
- Generate monthly and quarterly reports for both internal and external stakeholders, including monthly pro-forma reports and quarterly reports for the UFICO Board of Directors. Enhance and streamline reporting of portfolio performance, positioning, and risk statistics on an ongoing basis.
- Perform all other duties and projects assigned.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree – preferably in a quantitative/analytical field (engineering, math/science, finance, economics, etc.).
Desired: Advanced degree / CFA (or progress towards) - Up to five years’ experience at an asset manager, consulting firm, or direct investor.
- Comfortable with an end-to-end view of investment and financial analytics workflows, including how data, models, tools, and reporting fit to support decision-making.
- Experience applying statistical methods and analytical techniques to investments, balancing rigor and best practices with practical judgment, awareness of use-case suitability, and model risk.
- Appetite for learning and continuous improvement, with keen eye for downstream effects of decisions and willingness/ability to act to alleviate bottlenecks and enhance/automate processes as appropriate, using suitable tools including governance-aware applications of AI.
- Adept at using/learning new tools and technologies (e.g., Backstop, Solovis, Bloomberg, etc.). Proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Intellectually curious, critical thinker, and team player with strong interpersonal skills fitting a collaborative environment. Flexible and willing contribute beyond the direct scope of responsibility.
- Strong interest in supporting the work of a university endowment.
