Job Description
Level I: The Sponsored Programs Officer I is an entry‑level position within the Division of Sponsored Programs. Responsibilities include learning and facilitating a wide range of sponsored program administration activities, using professional concepts to resolve limited‑scope problems, and working on developmental assignments that are routine in nature.
Level II: The Sponsored Programs Officer II is an experienced position in the same division. Responsibilities include facilitating a broad range of sponsored program administration activities, applying theory to practice, possessing extensive job knowledge, and analyzing problems of diverse scope to determine effective solutions.
QualificationsLevel I: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in research administration.
Level II: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field plus two years of experience in sponsored program administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred QualificationsLevel I:
- Facility to learn electronic research administration software.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Skill in researching federal, sponsor, and university policy and applying critical thinking.
- Negotiation and relationship‑building aptitude.
- Effective use of electronic business applications and other systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, People Soft grants, and the University of Florida.
- Strong problem‑solving orientation with a win‑win mindset.
Level II:
- At least three years of sponsored programs administration demonstrating knowledge of federal policies governing grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
- Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, NIH Grant Policy Statement, NSF Grants Policy Manual, and university‑specific contracting regulations.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Critical thinking, good judgment, and effective interpersonal relationships.
- Experience with electronic business applications and integration with other systems.
- Proficiency with personal computers, Windows, Word, Access Database, Excel, UFIRST, and myUFL Grants.
