This position is responsible for performing the technical and clerical duties in the processing of investigational medications. These duties are associated with providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services to patients of Shands at UF and the University of Florida Clinic.

Qualifications- Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 2.
- Minimum training or experience in lieu of training: 12 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician Level 2 experience and completion of all required competencies; OR 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Level 2 experience and one of the following:
Two years hospital pharmacy experience OR Three years retail pharmacy experience. - Successfully complete the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCB).
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrate the ability to contribute to effective working relationships.
- Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, and computer workstation.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications.
As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department Staff Assistant, in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency.
Licensure/Certification /Registration- All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or licensed Pharmacist Intern prior to their first day of employment.
- Must present proof of current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status upon employment or obtain national pharmacy technician certification within the first 90 days.
