Position: Assistant Director of Environmental Services | Days | Full-Time

Assistant Director Of Environmental Services (EVS)

Make a meaningful impact on patient care by leading a team dedicated to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming healthcare environment. As the Assistant Director of Environmental Services (EVS), you will help drive operational excellence, elevate the patient experience, and support a culture of service and accountability.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of EVS oversees daily operations, staff leadership, and administrative functions to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety. This role partners with the Director to monitor operational and financial performance, departmental goals, and key performance indicators.

This position leads managers, supervisors, and staff in executing departmental strategies and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include conducting quality assurance rounds, collaborating with stakeholders, and implementing improvement plans to enhance service, compliance, and efficiency.

Additional responsibilities include oversight of staffing coverage, supply and equipment management, payroll and timekeeping, recruitment, employee relations, and performance management. The Assistant Director also provides leadership coverage in the Director's absence.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, healthcare, business, or related field and 3+ years of environmental services (EVS) management experience (healthcare preferred)
  • OR 5+ years of EVS management experience (healthcare preferred) in lieu of a degree

Certifications:

  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) credential preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation delivery
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; EVS software experience preferred

Leadership & Experience:

  • Proven success leading teams in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated ability to drive high-quality outcomes and exceptional service
  • Strong customer service mindset with a positive, employee-focused approach
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of healthcare staff
  • Skilled in handling unexpected situations calmly while prioritizing patient well-being

Additional Requirements:

  • Non-frequent driver designation (may operate a vehicle as needed)
