About this Position

The Emergency Department PT role is crucial for assessing care appropriateness, consulting with healthcare professionals, and delivering direct patient care. Lee Health's emergency departments embrace physical therapy services to enhance cost-efficiency, elevate patient satisfaction, and reduce readmissions through robust education and follow-up. As a long-standing part of Lee Health, Lee Memorial Hospital provides advanced services including a Primary Stroke Center designation and a DNV-accredited Orthopedic Center of Excellence, with a history of delivering award-winning, patient-centered care to the Fort Myers community for over a century.

As a Physical Therapist, you will be responsible for examining, evaluating, and testing individuals with mechanical, physiological, and developmental impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities to determine a diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of treatment intervention, and assess the ongoing effects of intervention. The PT is responsible for alleviating impairments and functional limitations by designing, implementing, and modifying treatment interventions. Additional responsibilities include reducing the risk of injury, impairment, and disability, as well as promoting fitness, health, and wellness in populations of all ages.

The PT engages in administration, consultation, education, and research, and is expected to conduct themselves with professional behavior. Key attributes for success include critical thinking, communication, problem solving, interpersonal skills, responsibility, professionalism, constructive feedback, effective use of time and resources, stress management, and commitment to learning.

About our Rehabilitation Team

Our Rehabilitation Services team is one of the largest and most dynamic in the region. With over 700 skilled professionals, we help patients regain strength, mobility, and independence through comprehensive, compassionate care. Our licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists work closely with medical teams to create individualized treatment plans. We offer specialty programs including neurological rehabilitation, vestibular and balance therapy, lymphedema management, pelvic health therapy, and oncology rehabilitation across acute care, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient settings.
