Federal Work Study Student Assistant

Federal Work Study Student Assistant to assist with training activities for the Gator-2-Gator peer support program within the Counseling & Wellness Center. Gator-2-Gator is a peer support program where students are trained to support peers experiencing distress. Gator 2 Gator provides 30-minute consultations for personal support and/or referral information about helpful resources. The Gator-2-Gator Graduate Student Assistant is responsible for providing Gator-2-Gator training, consultation, and support for UF students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting a minimum of two Gator-2-Gator trainings on a monthly basis.
  • Facilitating weekly Gator-2-Gator consultation meetings ambassadors providing G2G peer support on campus.
  • Attending Gator-2-Gator program planning and implementation meetings.
  • Assisting with scheduling and coordinating Gator-2-Gator program trainings.
  • Other similar duties as directed by supervisor.

Expected salary: $14.00/hour.

Required qualifications:

  • Federal Work Study Award (Please check in with UF Financial Aid to determine eligibility)
  • Graduate student in psychology, counselor education, or a counseling-related field.
  • Able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Not concurrently employed anywhere else on the UF campus using Federal Work Study.
  • Requires access to personal computer and internet.
  • Able to commit to 2-3 semesters of Gator-2-Gator service.

Preferred:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as carrying or moving CWC outreach and communication materials if needed.
  • Positive, friendly, and professional attitude.
  • Reliable, good follow-through.
