Role Overview
The Diabetes RN/RD, CDCES collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate, ongoing care for pediatric patients with diabetes.
ResponsibilitiesConducts patient and family assessments to identify educational needs, delivers individualized and group diabetes education, and creates educational materials. Acts as a liaison with patients, families, and healthcare providers to support glucose management, insulin adjustments, and concerns through various communication channels. Provides training on diabetes technology devices and maintains certification with device companies. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and may assist with diabetes research studies and camps.
The RD offers tailored Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and mentors student interns.
Requires a BSN or dietetics degree, licensure in Florida, and certification as a CDCES within one year. Clinical experience in diabetes education preferred. BLS certification is necessary. The role demands excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
