Job Description:
  • Perform routine laboratory and animal care support functions in accordance with established protocols
  • Handle, feed, monitor, and assist with anesthetizing laboratory animals (primarily rodents)
  • Assist with behavioral outcome measures and data collection
  • Collect, prepare, and process biological samples, tissues, and physiological fluids
  • Prepare solutions and reagents and assist with histology and immunohistochemistry procedures
  • Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to conduct assigned tasks
  • Maintain accurate records, tabulate data, and enter information into electronic systems
  • Assist with ordering supplies and general laboratory organization
  • Support regulatory compliance activities, including IACUC documentation and laboratory safety requirements

$15 - $20 hourly, commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma, bachelor's in science or equivalent

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory and animal handling procedures and the ability to learn
  • Ability to follow protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to use computers for data entry and basic administrative tasks
Preferred:

Experience working with laboratory animals and/or in a research laboratory setting
