Description
Position Summary: The Pre-Certification Collector must accurately and efficiently collect all co-pay, co-insurance, and deductible amounts due prior to the scheduled surgical procedure(s) while meeting Physicians standards and exhibiting excellence in customer service.
Qualifications- High School graduate.
- 1 year experience in a medical environment dealing with insurance verification and authorizations, medical terminology, and CPT and ICD9 coding.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
- Obtains the insurance company’s contracted rates.
- Calculates the patient’s financial responsibility.
- Collects the patient’s pre-surgery deposit.
- Completes and submits all non-payment letters.
- Completes Physician’s instructions on non-payment letters.
- Completes daily batch of pre-surgery deposits for Accounting.
- Communicates effectively with staff, secretaries, physicians and patients.
- Encourages good communication with the Primary Care Physician’s office, Insurance and Worker’s Compensation carriers and the various Hospitals and surgery centers.
- Document and keep accurate records on all surgeries.
- All other duties as assigned.
