The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is recruiting for a Biomedical Equipment Technician. This position serves as the first point of contact for veterinary medical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, helping ensure critical equipment remains safe, functional, and available for patient care. The Biomedical Equipment Technician performs preventive maintenance, calibrations, inspections, and repairs on a variety of veterinary medical equipment while coordinating vendor supported service when necessary.
The Biomedical Equipment Technician collaborates closely with clinicians, area managers, facilities staff, and vendors to minimize equipment downtime, support equipment installations and replacements, and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include assisting with equipment lifecycle management, documentation of maintenance and repair activities, equipment recalls and safety notices, and training staff on proper equipment operation and care. Critical competencies for this position include strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, excellent organizational and communication abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
This position requires a post-offer health assessment and background check.

Preferred- Knowledge and experience working in a clinical veterinary environment
- Experience in equipment management and maintenance
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards related to equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Degree or courses in Biomedical Equipment

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist and stand for an extended period of time.
