Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The Human Resources Generalist II (HRGen2) position is housed in the College of Public Health and Health Professions, Office of the Dean, and reports to the Director of Human Resources. This position services the Human Resources (HR) functions of the college and provides direct and indirect HR guidance and support to the college's departments and programs.
The College of Public Health and Health Professions has eight (8) departments plus the Dean's Office. This position will be located in the Dean's Office and will function as the primary HR liaison for the college's departments. The HR Director will assign departments based on operational requirements. This position will be the primary point of contact and provide HR guidance to its assigned departments within PHHP for all salary plans including Faculty, TEAMS, Postdoctoral Associates, OPS faculty and staff, Student Assistants including Federal Work Study, Graduate Assistants, Interns and Courtesy.
Additionally, this position will work in tandem with the other HRGen2(s) and will serve as backup in times of absence or during periods of heavy workload.
HR Recruitment and Hiring Manager
- Provide guidance and serve as Level 1 approver for all recruitments.
- Posting, letters of offer, hires, and distributions.
- Guidance on posting requirements, recruitment questions, interviewing process, veteran's preference rules, foreign national requirements, background screenings, health assessments, work permits, reference checks, ad placements, search committee requirements, timelines, etc.
- Review and approve all applicable letters of offer and/or appointment before issuance.
- Review all HR paperwork for completion and correctness before uploading in People Soft.
- Confirm all recruitments advertised through UF's posting systems are dispensed appropriately.
HR‑related Responsibilities
- Serve as Level 1 reviewer and approver for reclassifications, special pay increases (SPI's), FTE changes, administrative supplements, additional pays, position description updates, supervisor changes, leaves of absence, terminations and leave cash outs.
- Process FMLA paperwork and advise departments.
- Process new Nepotism agreements, Disclosure of Outside Activity forms for applicable salary plans, and HR-600's for assigned departments.
- Engage in Employee Relations conversations with department HR personnel, college employees, and/or UFHR ER partners.
Relationship Building
- Build a relationship of trust and collegiality with department HR colleagues.
- Initiate and maintain regular meetings to strengthen relationships.
- Provide guidance and training in various HR functions as needed.
- Serve as backup to departments when HR positions may be vacant.
- Attend monthly UFHR Forum meeting via Livestream and serve as key participant and speaker at monthly PHHP HR workshops.
- Graduate Assistant Coordinator. Responsible for prompting the appropriate program director for list of new DO Graduate Assistants, creating and issuing Letters of Appointment, scheduling onboarding, entering tuition waivers, ensuring hire completion in People Soft, etc.
- Manage full cycle process for all Graduate School Funded Awards and Grinter Fellowship hires.
- Coordinate Graduate Student Tracking Program for all PHHP recipients.
- Points of contact for PHHP scholarship tracking system and reporting.
- Training Compliance Manager. Monitor UF required trainings across all personnel types for the College.
- Website Manager. Ensure the PHHP HR website is accurate and up to date.
- Reporting. Track, execute, and disseminate all regular reporting needs for the College HR team.
- Faculty Evaluative Processes. Provide back‑up assistance to the Director of HR for faculty evaluative processes.
