Vice President of Human Resources, Gainesville

Overview

UF Health is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) to oversee the Gainesvilles region. They will be a strategic leader, trusted advisor, and responsible for driving human resources excellence across the hospitals and sites of care in their assigned region. As a key member of the HR leadership team, the VP-HR partners with Centers of Expertise (COEs) in Total Rewards, Talent, Learning and Development, and HR Operations to implement innovative strategies that align with UF Health’s mission, vision, and values.

This position also provides direct support and guidance to the executive leadership teams within the region, ensuring alignment between organizational goals and human capital initiatives.

• Collaborate with the CHRO and executive leadership to design and execute regional HR strategies that support UF Health’s strategic priorities, including workforce planning, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
• Drive the integration of HR practices and policies across the region, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with UF Health’s overall objectives.
• Collaborates with regional executive leadership to define the organization’s long‑term mission and goals.
• Functions as a strategic business advisor to the senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key organizational and management issues.
• Serve as a strategic partner to hospital executives, providing data‑driven insights and recommendations to address workforce challenges, including retention, labor market trends, and succession planning.

• Identifies key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
• Partner with COEs to implement region‑specific programs in areas such as total rewards, recruitment, leadership development, and technology enhancements.
• Ensure the effective execution of system‑wide HR initiatives, tailoring approaches to meet the unique needs of regional hospitals.
• Provide feedback to COEs to continuously improve processes and programs that impact on the employee experience.

• Championing a culture of trust, accountability, and high performance that reflects UF Health’s core values.
• Lead efforts to promote team member engagement and satisfaction, leveraging data from engagement surveys and other feedback mechanisms to drive meaningful action.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex employee relations issues, ensuring resolution aligns with organizational values and legal compliance.
• Lead change management efforts for regional initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and high levels of stakeholder engagement.

• Work with the Talent COE to address regional workforce needs, including strategies to attract and retain top healthcare talent.
• Identify and address leadership development needs within the region, ensuring a robust pipeline of future leaders.

Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.

Experience
:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably within the healthcare sector. Proven experience in strategic planning, talent acquisition, organizational development, and employee engagement at an executive level.
