Overview
This role will develop and implement a strategy that leverages data, data analytics, AI and automation technology to enhance the delivery, quality, and timeliness of internal audit insights, while aligning with and leveraging the hospital’s broader digital health and AI strategies. Responsible for data analytics, outcomes within audits and projects, including building and expanding the capacity of Audit Services AI and Analytic Program.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Support
- In coordination with the Internal Audit Director, and UF Health IT leaders, develop an Audit Services AI and Analytic Program Road Map and execute it.
- Lead a digitalization strategy for Internal Audit, including elevation of data analytic skills and tools, AI/automation incorporation, and better integration with other resources across UF Health
- Champion a data-driven, agile audit approach across all phases of the audit lifecycle.
- Advise and manage a digital and application road map for internal audit
- Collaborate with audit leadership, IT, compliance, and clinical stakeholders in support of building better UF Health governance, risk management and internal control systems as requested.
- Design and deploy advanced analytics within internal audit. Focused on leveraging data resources, structures, and IT relationships efficiently and effectively to the enhancement and value of internal audit products and services
- Leverage existing analytic tools (ACL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and skills across internal audit and available IT teams to their fullest potential and capacity
- Identify and elevate basic automation and analytic skills in all auditors, providing additional training opportunities for those with analytic interests
- Develop process for capturing and understanding AI applications, tools and opportunities particularly for administrative and business programs and processes. Identify ways to incorporate this knowledge into the enhancement of audit methods, and audit advice
Build a Data Analytic and Automation annual audit plan, in collaboration with the Internal Audit Assistant Director, identifying which audits and projects will be supported by data analytic or automation services and who will be performing those attributes.
- Manage these projects throughout the year, in collaboration with IT resources, Audit Team Leads and Audit Staff. Ensuring minimum necessary data analytic and automation skills is available and accurate documentation according to professional audit standards is achieved.
- Upskill and mentor audit staff in digital audit methodologies and data analytics.
- Drive cultural transformation within the audit team to embrace innovation and technology.
- Enhance audit integration with enterprise GRC systems and risk management frameworks.
- Participate in other audits as necessary, which align with your skills; audits of IT systems, cybersecurity, digital platforms, EMR/HER, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree - Experience:
10+ years of progressive experience in internal audit, risk, information technology program development or analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role with demonstrated success in program development. Experience in healthcare, hospitals, or regulated environments is strongly preferred. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and machine learning.
- Experience with audit analytic applications like ACL and experience with machine learning frameworks a plus
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data engineering tools for building scalable data pipelines.
- Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and business intelligence platforms
- Knowledge of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and advanced analytics frameworks
