Windows Site Reliability Engineer - Intermediate

Overview

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is seeking an intermediate‑level Windows Site Reliability Engineer to join the Infrastructure & Communication Technology team. The engineer will lead small and medium projects, initiate new ones, coordinate teams responsible for maintenance, installation, configuration, and deployment of enterprise‑wide infrastructure and software systems, and mentor junior staff.

• Windows administration of enterprise applications.
• Provide input, advice, and recommendations on enterprise systems administration and management technologies.
• Assist with architectural decisions across projects and initiatives and promote architectural best practices.
• Scripting and automation using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Git Lab, and others.
• Participate in post‑incident reviews.
• Large‑scale Windows administration.
• Participate in designing system architecture and implementation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies.

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field and two years of relevant experience; or high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience.
• Installation and management of enterprise application infrastructure in large‑scale environments using on‑premises and cloud deployments of Windows Server.
• Intermediate knowledge and prior use of automation, scripting, and configuration management systems such as Terraform, Ansible, Git Lab CI/CD, Vault, Docker, Power Shell, Python, and Go.
• Load balancer policies and virtual server load balancing.
• Administering IIS in clustered and non‑clustered configurations.
• Experience with large‑scale Windows Server operating system management including in‑depth troubleshooting.
• Monitoring systems such as Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, Splunk, Loki, Prometheus, Mimir.
• Some familiarity with and prior use of APIs (SOAP, REST, etc.).
• Some familiarity with at least one hypervisor platform (preferred: VMWare).

$82,000 to $92,000, commensurate with education and experience.
