Job DescriptionUF Information Technology (UFIT) is seeking an intermediate level IT Generalist III to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT). This role supports and maintains moderately complex network systems and provides A/V and end user support across the UF Jacksonville campus and surrounding areas. The position requires travel between Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses during the first six months and may include nights and weekends.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve moderate complex network issues across building level, layer‑1, and layer‑2 infrastructure components.
- Evaluate network performance, conduct periodic maintenance, review procedures, and document processes for continuous improvement.
- Apply best practices for new building construction, data‑center updates, major building renovation projects, and wall‑plate equipment renewal projects.
- Act as a technical resource for coworkers and customers regarding layer‑2 networks in small‑to‑medium buildings.
- Manage statewide WAN, IFAS, office networks, campus building LANs, wireless access, core network, and external WAN connections.
- Install, relocate, and configure computers, printers, and end‑user devices, including system imaging and application software.
- Maintain understanding of current OS environments, Active Directory, and cloud services.
- Support Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, G Suite, Dropbox, and other campus software.
- Install and configure complex audio‑visual and IT hardware in supported spaces.
- Manage Zoom Rooms, Crestron XIO, scheduling panels, EMS scheduling, and public computers.
- Provide classroom and A/V technology support to ensure uninterrupted lectures.
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- CCNA Certification or equivalent.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or other relevant certification.
- Knowledge of physical network infrastructure and components.
- Experience with desktop, laptop, A/V, or classroom support.
- Experience providing technical support for video management and streaming platforms.
- Excellent service orientation and communication skills.
Competitive salary range: $61,000 – $65,000. UF offers a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, sick leave, holidays, personal leave, paid family leave, and health insurance.
