Job DescriptionThe UF Surplus PC/AV Shop is the computer and electronic diagnostic facility that is responsible for the appropriate disposition and sustainability of all “information technology” and electronic property surveyed out as surplus by all UF departments. UF Surplus fulfills UF's sustainability commitment by reducing UF's technology waste by reusing technology within UF, reselling to the public or donating technology to the community, and recycling technology that is no longer viable.
The FWS student performs the following:
- Test, troubleshoot, clean (includes data wiping hard drives), repair, configure, optimize, upgrade, and renovate various forms of technology received in UF Surplus.
- Students will learn how to support PC hardware including installation, troubleshooting and component replacement.
- Additional tasks include installing, configuring, optimizing, and upgrading IT items that includes but not limited to laptops, monitors, scanners, cameras, and projectors. Shop tools will be provided.
- Make ready, photograph, enter and update Asset Management database for item specifications before placing them on public auction website (includes Direct Sales).
- Update and input status of surplus property data into Asset Management database pertaining to surplus property to accurately maintain the property records.
- Individuals must be dependable and take ownership of job.
Work on campus in the PC/AV Shops at the UF Surplus warehouse located one block from Lake Alice. Campus bus service is available to this location.
Expected Salary$15/hour
PreferredWorking knowledge of computer hardware.
