The Vice President of Claims oversees the operations of multiple units within the Claims Department, providing strategic direction and guidance on complex issues that require extensive expertise and judgment. This role is responsible for developing and implementing claims service, settlement, and workforce strategies that optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Leveraging expertise and industry knowledge, this position identifies regional and market trends to inform decision‑making and shape best practices.

Additionally, this role leads the design and execution of data‑driven initiatives to enhance claims operations and drive continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee claims operations, monitoring service objectives and production results against goals, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving strategic action plans to resolve issues.
  • Lead the development of the annual Claims Plan, CAT Plan, departmental budget, staffing analysis, and compensation recommendations.
  • Champion talent development and employee engagement initiatives to enhance departmental performance and morale.
  • Offer oversight and strategic counsel on staff development, fostering a high‑performing leadership team.
  • Lead process improvement and operational excellence initiatives to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and business results.
  • Plan and facilitate Claims meetings and training sessions to ensure alignment with operational priorities and best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in property claims, providing guidance and consultation on complex or high‑impact claims.
  • Define, track, and report on KPIs and departmental goals, ensuring measurable progress and accountability.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison with Human Resources, partnering on hiring decisions, workforce guidance, and ensuring organizational alignment.
  • Participate in catastrophe management response and related leadership activities.
  • Knowledge and experience with automobile insurance claims a plus.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field required.

Equivalent experience may substitute for minimum educational requirements. Equivalent experience may include twelve (12) years of relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of ten (10+) plus years of relevant work experience required, including experience in complex claims management.

CERTIFICATIONS

Property and casualty insurance industry designations preferred (i.e. Associate in Claims [AIC], Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter [CPCU], etc.).

LICENSES

Florida All‑Lines Adjuster required.

Valid Driver’s License required.
